The CBA National Military Law Section is seeking nominations for a Chair, Vice-Chair, Communications Officer, Secretary, and up to ten Members-at-Large, for the term September 1, 2020 to August 31, 2021. Legal Officers are encouraged to apply, as we endeavor to ensure that the Executive maintains a balance of civilian and military lawyers.

Chair

The Chair oversees activities, presides at meetings and conference calls and reports to the Board of Directors as required.

Vice-Chair

The Vice-Chair acts for the Chair in the absence or inability of the Chair to act, attends meetings and conference calls and assists the Chair and Executive Committee as needed.

Communications Officer

The Communications Officer attends meetings and is responsible for keeping Section members informed of key Section activities, upcoming events, and opportunities to get involved in the work of the Section.

Secretary

The Secretary is responsible for preparing minutes of meetings and conference calls in a timely manner and otherwise assists the Executive as needed.

The Secretary sequentially occupies each office through to Past Chair, which involves a five-year commitment.

Members-at-Large

Member-at-Large positions are open to Section members who wish to actively participate in the work of the Section. Members-at-Large attend meetings and conference calls as they are able and provide input or take responsibility for various tasks as they arise. There are many opportunities to assist.

Young lawyers and students with a particular interest or relevant experience are encouraged to apply.

Nominations

Nominations must be received by June 1, 2020. When filling positions, the Section endeavours to maintain a balance of civilian and military lawyers. We consider language, geographic representation, diversity and members who are familiar with and active in Section activities, but also seek new participants.
