CBA Business Law Section Update

  • October 27, 2017

Dear Members,

The CBA Business Law Section serves as the national voice on the law governing corporate entities and includes securities regulation, commercial law and consumer law. We contribute to national policy and respond to legislative initiatives. Meet the 2017-2018 executive.

The Section is also part of a broader CBA working group preparing a submission in response to the Government’s consultation “Expanding Canada’s Toolkit to Address Corporate Wrongdoing”. The government is seeking input on potential enhancements to the Integrity Regime and a possible Canadian deferred prosecution agreement (DPA) regime.

I am both honored and excited to serve as Chair of the Section. I hope to build on the excellent work of my predecessors who have developed the Section which now has over 5,000 members. If you would like to get involved, please contact us.

I also encourage you to register for the inaugural CBA Business Law Conference on November 3 in Toronto. Join leading experts and your peers from across Canada to explore current and emerging trends in mergers and acquisitions and how those trends will impact your practice in the future!

Sincerely,

Jeffery A. Cormier
Chair, CBA Business Law Section
