Description

Our Finance department is part of the Operations group and in various ways collaborates with all of the other departments within bcIMC. The Finance Department is responsible for financial administration, tax planning and compliance, and financial reporting for bcIMC and the investment funds under bcIMC's administration and also works with our auditors and external advisors. The department is organized into six branches: Investment Accounting; Corporate Accounting; Performance Measurement; Financial Planning & Analysis; Business Reporting & Analytics; and Tax.

Qualifications

Must have:

  • A professional accounting or law designation (CPA, CA, CGA, CMA, JD, LL.B. or international equivalent)

  • 8-10 years experience in taxation with a law firm, accounting firm and/or in industry

  • An equivalent combination of education and skills will be considered

  • A strong technical background in Canadian and/or US tax. A similar background in another developed economy tax system would also be considered.

  • A strategic thinker and team player who is pro-active and self-motivated

  • A demonstrated ability to collaboratively engage staff and external advisors to research and solve complex and challenging problems

  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • The capability to manage multiple and competing priorities and to meet tight deadlines

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to interact effectively with the tax team, the asset teams and with external advisors

Preferred:

  • Completion of the CICA In-depth Tax course, a Masters in tax or other similar tax related training

  • Experience with domestic and international private equity, infrastructure, real estate and/or mortgage transactions

  • Demonstrated project management experience
