Third-party violating online terms of service

  • December 18, 2023

What is the issue?

The CBA has become aware that an individual is accessing publicly available information about members for the purpose of selling this information to third parties. This is a violation of the Terms of Service of the CBA website.

What does it mean for my information?

Only publicly available information is impacted, which means that only information you have opted to be made public would have been access by the individual. Our member list does NOT contain sensitive personal information.

What are the next steps?

The CBA is also taking all necessary steps to prevent further violations.

What should I do if I’m concerned about my information?

If you are unsure about which of your information is publicly available, you can check your member online profile. There, you also have the option to edit which information you want to be made available publicly.

If you have any questions, please contact Simon Gingras, Director of IT and Privacy Officer, at privacy@cba.org.
