Spotlight on The Pitch

  • November 08, 2017

The PitchThe CBA has teamed up with Law Made to bring back The Pitch – and this time the competition is open to legaltech startups from around the world.

This event will cap off the CCCA National Conference and In-House Counsel Worldwide Summit on May 1 in Toronto, and will give CBA members the chance to witness firsthand the latest and greatest innovations in legaltech. The event is powered by CBA, LawMade and LexisNexis.

For legaltech entrepreneurs, The Pitch is a great opportunity to connect with the people who can help their startups grow.

"The Pitch was an amazing opportunity to showcase Knomos in front of a national audience of Canadian lawyers – talk about targeted outreach to your key customers! Both the event itself and the national press coverage that followed was a catalyst in the next phase of our growth as a company,” says Adam La France, who pitched on-stage at the inaugural Pitch event in 2016. “I'd highly recommend it for all early-stage legaltech startups looking to make a name for themselves."

Legaltech startups will be invited to submit their ideas from Nov. 16, 2017 to Feb. 2, 2018. As with the first Pitch event, the proposals will be reviewed by an online panel which will select the finalists who will then pitch to a panel of in-person judges and a live audience in May.

The 2016 event featured five startups shortlisted from a total of 31 Canadian applicants. Beagle Inc. was top dog according to the judges, while Loom Analytics won the Peoples’ Choice Award, voted on by the audience after the event.

Are you a legaltech entrepreneur looking to get in front of investors, test the market and connect with industry influencers? This might be just the opportunity you’re looking for.
