Increasing corporate diversity and other Bill C-25 amendments

A submission on Bill C-25, An Act to amend the Canada Business Corporations Act, the Canada Cooperatives Act, the Canada Not-for-profit Corporations Act, and the Competition Act, was made on behalf of the Canadian Corporate Counsel Association, the CBA Equality Committee, and the CBA National Women Lawyers Forum, as well as the CBA National Business, Charities and Not-for-profit, and Competition Law Sections to the House of Commons Standing Committee on Industry, Science and Technology. The Sections’ comments focused on the Canada Business Corporations Act (CBCA) and the Competition Act. The submission welcomed the amendments as a first step to encourage greater diversity in Canada’s corporate leadership, including boards and senior management, and suggested other improvements to the Acts.
