Governor in Council (GIC) Appointments

  • April 13, 2017

The selection process to fill vacancies on the Board of Directors for the Canadian Deposit Insurance Corporation (CDIC), the Canadian International Trade Tribunal (CITT) and the Canadian Development Investment Corporation (CDEV) is underway. The Government of Canada will be looking to fill out various part-time and full-time positions. The application processes for the three organizations is open until April 19th 2017

The Government is applying a new and rigorous approach to Governor in Council (GIC) appointments, which are built on an open, transparent, and merit-based selection process‎. This approach is indicative of the fundamental role that Canadians play in our democracy as they serve on commissions, boards, Crown corporations, agencies, and tribunals across the country. The Government believes that this will result in the recommendation of high-quality candidates who truly reflect Canada’s diversity along with bolstering Canadians' confidence in these important organizations.
