he 2008 Victoria open house was held on April 19, 2008 from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm at the Victoria Courthouse at 850 Burdett Avenue. In Victoria, Law Week is a collaborative project organized through the partnership of the Canadian Bar Association, BC Branch and the Victoria Bar Association.

Law Day events in Victoria offered a variety of activities for the public, including a mock trial, a police information session by the Westshore RCMP, a Q&A session with members of the judiciary, and tours of courthouse in-custody facilities and sheriff vehicles. The Honourable Justice Metzger of the Supreme Court of British Columbia and The Honourable Judge Quantz of the Provincial Court of British Columbia answered questions from the public. There were door prizes such as a ride-along with the Saanich Police and gift certificates from local businesses.

Resource rooms with information on family law, criminal law and civil dispute resolution were available for members of the public as well as public legal information sessions and skits.

On Saturday, April 19, 2008, the BC Branch of the Canadian Bar Association held its province-wide “Dial-A-Lawyer” as part of Law Week. Victoria area residents were invited to call between 10:00 am and 2:00 pm to speak with a lawyer for up to 15 minutes at no cost.
