The 2012 Vancouver Law Week Open House will be held from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm on April 17, 2012 at the Vancouver Art Gallery, 750 Hornby Street. Vancouver.
Law Day events will include:

A taping of three Chief Justices being interviewed by CBC Journalist, Ian Hanomansing

The chance to learn about the judicial system while navigating through an obstacle course

One of the cornerstone events held in British Columbia during Law Week is the annual Barry Sullivan Law Cup public speaking contest. The competition is sponsored by the Canadian Bar Association British Columbia Branch and is open to students enrolled in grades 11-12 in British Columbia. The Law Cup is named in memory of Barry Sullivan in recognition of his contributions to both the legal and educational professions. The Law Cup is presented to the provincial winner of the competition.
The competition will be held from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, April 19, 2012 in the Heritage Courtroom at the Vancouver Art Gallery, 750 Hornby Street in Vancouver, British Columbia. Students will present five minute speeches that pertain to the 2012 theme "Access to Justice: Does having the Charter lead to a more just society?".
We wish to thank the speakers and judges for their participation in this annual event and Mr. Sullivan’s widow Ms. Dawn Waddell, Leanne Sullivan and Shannon Sullivan for their support of the Barry Sullivan Law Cup Public Speaking Contest.

The BC Branch of the Canadian Bar Association will hold is ninth annual Law Week Fun Run at 10:00 am on Sunday, April 22, 2012 at Locarno Beach Park in Vancouver. This event is open to all members of the legal profession, their familes and friends.

On Saturday, April 21, 2012, the British Columbia Branch of the Canadian Bar Association will hold its province-wide "Dial-A-Lawyer" event as part of Law Week.
BC residents are invited to call 1.800.663.1919 between 10am and 2pm to speak with a lawyer for up to 15 minutes at no cost in the following areas of law:
