"Welcome to the Ontario Bar Association (OBA) Student Division webpage.  Our Division aims to represent the law school and articling student members of our province, with our Executive made up of ambassadors from every law school and major articling region in Ontario.  Please do not hesitate to contact your relevant representative this year, via the contact information found below.

        As the new chairperson of the OBA Student Division, I am very excited to work with the new Student Division executive as well as the OBA Executive and Council to bring forward law and articling student interests in the coming year.  In the past four years of my involvement with the OBA, I have seen the Student Division become involved in ever more dynamic and diverse projects.  This has ranged from hosting the annual “Life After Law School” speaker series at each  law school, to researching funding opportunities for students interested in pursuing social justice legal careers.  

        I hope to continue this tradition and work to expand recognition of the important role OBA membership can play in  law and articling students’ careers.  Most exciting of all has been the  decision to make membership FREE for all law school student members in Ontario.  Some Highlights of the 2007-08 Year...

* The "Life After Law School" regional programs made yet another year of success at each Ontario law school with an excellent attendance!  Each session included great speakers and there were good opportunities to engage into discussion.  Positive feedback was recieved from faculty members, students and speakers to the way the events were conducted.  Each Law School Student Ambassador did a fine job in helping this program become a success.


* Articling Ambassadors and Law School Student Ambassadors represented OBA at their local spring Articling Career fairs.

The Student Division Executive (SD) is comprised of OBA Student Members who dedicate their time in representing and advocating 'for the student voice of the legal profession'. They continuously work towards:

·   Identifying student issues and forwarding them to the OBA Executive on behalf of the law student population;
·   Establishing a presence of the OBA at Ontario law schools;
·   Facilitating and encouraging student participation at OBA events at law schools;
·   Promoting the significance of CBA-OBA Membership amongst law school students and articling students.
