Research Program:

This programme is of interest to those pursuing a career in teaching or research in universities, government or private practice. This programme of study leads to the degrees of D.Jur., or LL.M.

Admission Requirements:

D. Jur. Programme: To be eligible for admission to the D. Jur. Programme, candidates normally must possess an academic degree in law having achieved a high B average.

LL M Research Programme: To be eligible for admission to the LL.M. Research Programme, normally candidates must possess an academic degree in law, having achieved a B average.

All applicants must demonstrate a level of proficiency which, in the opinion of the Graduate Studies Committee, makes successful completion of graduate studies likely. They must also be able to work with legal materials in the English language.

Program Requirements:

Jur. D.:

All D. Jur. Candidates must complete at least two courses or seminars, achieving at least a high B average overall, and a dissertation.

The doctoral program normally requires three years of full-time study.
LL.M.:
All LL.M. candidates must complete at least three courses, achieving an average of B overall, and a thesis.

The LL.M. can usually be completed in two years.
Professional Program:
A Part-time LL.M. Program that offers law school graduates further development of their legal education structured around specialized areas of law.

The Certificate of Attendance in Canadian Law Studies:
Candidates are permitted to attend courses in the Graduate or LL. B Programme, and receive a Certificate of Attendance upon completion. A Certificate of Attendance should not be construed as an academic degree, nor are students entitled for academic credit in law for courses or seminars taken.
