Indian Residential Schools Resolution Canada (IRSRC) Program: Letter to the Minister Responsible for IRSRC
Aboriginal Law Section
October 2003
The CBA supports fair and independent resolution of claims arising from placement in Indian Residential Schools, but identifies serious concerns with the program designed by the government to process those claims. Some of the CBA’s concerns are that the process should be more inclusive in the way it is developed, better ensure the independence of adjudicators and be sufficiently broad in its scope to address the range of damage suffered. The CBA requests a meeting with government representative to further discuss concerns and potential improvements.
