Executive Committee 2010-2011

The Section is pleased to welcome Lorna Pawluk as the new Secretary. 

From September 1, 2010  to August 31, 2011, the National Administrative Law Section Officers will be:

Chair:  Mathieu Bouchard  (Westmount, Quebec)
Vice-Chair: Murray Murphy  (Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island)
Treasurer: Paul Smith  (Yellowknife, Northwest Territories)
Secretary:  Lorna Pawluk  (Vancouver, British Columbia)
Past Chair: Michèle Hurteau  (Ottawa, Ontario)

The Executive Committee also includes the Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland & Labrador, Northwest Territories, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, Quebec, Saskatchewan, and Yukon Administrative Law Section Chairs, and five additional Executive Members to assist with the work of the Section.

Section members are encouraged to contact Astrid Hoffmann for more information on opportunities to get actively involved in the Section’s activities.

The John Tait Award of Excellence is presented each year at the CBA Annual Conference to a public sector lawyer or law office that has displayed the highest standards of professional conduct and competence, made significant contributions to social justice or community affairs, and has exemplified pre-eminent public service.

The Section deals with: legislation conferring judicial or rulemaking powers upon any public official and the administration thereof; the jurisdiction, procedure and organization of administrative tribunals and the practice of lawyers before such tribunals; the organization of government insofar as it affects the foregoing of the practice of lawyers; and judicial review of the exercise of administrative powers.
