"Alberta's Oil Sands - Up Close and in Perspective."
The Judges’ Day Education Programme will take place on Tuesday, August 14, 2007 and will include a trip to Ft. McMurray. The programme includes a primer in the legal background to the Oil Sands development and the continuing legal challenges posed by the oil sands operation such as:
- Sources of Provincial Ownership and Jurisdiction and the impact of the Natural Resources Transfer Agreements
- The Acquisition, Nature and Duration of Oil Sands Tenure including the environmental impact assessment process.
- The Royalty Structure
- Air Quality Regulations
- Waste Allocation and Water Disposal Issues
These and many, many more issues will be discussed by:
