About CBA National Sections

National Sections represent 32 groups of CBA members, organized according to specific areas of law, which provide communication services and facilitate co-ordination among Branch Sections and members on issues of national concern.

Sections are the CBA's greatest resource for:

  • expertise in specific areas of law and matters relating to the objects of the Association;
  • CBA initiatives addressing matters of concern to the legal profession; and
  • professional development services, including national continuing legal education programs.

What We Do

How to Become a Member

When you enroll as an active member of a section at the provincial or territorial level, you are entitled to membership in corresponding national sections. You may join sections without Branch counterparts by checking the appropriate "National Section" space on the Section enrollment form provided by your Branch. (Some Branches include a separate National Section list in their section registration package).

Call Membership at 1-800-267-8860 to verify National Section enrollment, or e-mail us at CBA Sections.
