Bruce Noble, Q.C., of Fredericton wins CBA's 2005 Douglas Miller Award

OTTAWA – Bruce A. Noble Q.C., of Fredericton is the 2005 recipient of the Canadian Bar Association’s Douglas Miller Award. The President of the CBA, Susan McGrath of Iroquois Falls, Ont., presented the award to Mr. Noble at the Association’s 2005 Mid-Winter Meeting in Charlottetown on Feb. 19.

“Bruce Noble is a dedicated CBA member promoting the New Brunswick Branch and National organization at every opportunity,” said Susan McGrath in announcing the award.

Bruce Noble rarely misses a CBA meeting where he is known to be an active, committed participant. In the Doug Miller tradition, he places an equally strong value on friendship and camaraderie with colleagues from across Canada.

Currently president of the Law Society of New Brunswick, Bruce Noble is a city solicitor for the City of Fredericton. This year he is also president of the International Municipal Lawyers Association, a non-profit organization that serves the needs of local government lawyers.

A member of Council of CBA-New Brunswick from 1992-2000, Bruce Noble was President of the CBA-NB in 1998-1999. Currently on the Executive of the CBA National Municipal Law Section, Bruce is a also member of the Board of the Canadian Corporate Counsel Association.

The Douglas Miller Award honours the late Doug Miller of Yellowknife, a former president of the Association’s Northwest Territories Branch and a very active CBA member who passed away in 1994. The award recognizes a CBA member who demonstrates outstanding dedication and team spirit.

The Canadian Bar Association is dedicated to improvement in the law and the administration of justice. Some 38,000 lawyers, law teachers, and law students from across Canada are members.
