FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
February 16, 2003

OTTAWA
- Greg A. Harding, Q.C., of Edmonton is the 2003 recipient of the Canadian Bar Association's Douglas Miller Award. The President of the CBA, Simon Potter, presented the award to Mr. Harding at the Association's 2003 Mid-Winter Meeting in Banff, Alberta.

"Greg Harding has worked tirelessly for the CBA over the past 15 years," said Mr. Potter in announcing the award. "His talents, both on the frontline of CBA activity and behind the scenes, always ensure that the CBA projects in which he is involved are a tremendous success."

Always available to help when asked, Greg Harding is known for his infectious enthusiasm and sense of humour. He has served as President of the CBA-Alberta Branch, on the CBA National Executive Committee, as Chair of the 1999 Annual Meeting Committee, and as a Director of the Canadian Bar Insurance Association.

"He exemplifies the essence of volunteerism that is valued so much in the award - working to achieve results and enjoying the experience at the same time," noted Mr. Potter.

Born in Edmonton, Greg Harding received his LL.B. from the University of Alberta in 1982. He joined the firm of Field Atkinson Perraton that same year, where he became a partner in 1989. He was named Queen's Counsel in 1996 and received the CBA-Alberta Branch President's Award in 1999.

The Douglas Miller Award honours the late Doug Miller of Yellowknife, a former president of the Association's Northwest Territories Branch and a very active CBA member who passed away in 1994.

The Canadian Bar Association is dedicated to improvement in the law and the administration of justice. Some 38,000 lawyers, notaries, law teachers, and law students from across Canada are members.
