The Stephen Hanson Awards for Excellence in Journalism
Back to Awards

Each year, the Canadian Bar Association offers the Stephen Hanson Awards for Excellence in Journalism (formerly the Justicia Awards). The Awards celebrate outstanding journalism that fosters public awareness and understanding of any aspect of the Canadian justice system and the roles played by institutions and participants in the legal system. Awards are given for French or English stories in two categories: print and broadcast media.

The Awards are named after Stephen Hanson, who led the CBA's Communications department for 36 years until his retirement in 2012. Prior to joining the CBA, Stephen worked as a journalist at the CBC.
