MandateThe Legislation & Law Reform Committee (L&LR) is a Standing Committee of the CBA. Its primary mandate is to assist the Canadian Bar Association to pursue improvement in the law and the administration of justice by:
(a) promoting consideration by the Association of legal and policy issues:
i) which are of interest or concern to the legal community,
ii) to which the legal profession has a social or moral obligation to respond,
iii) upon which the Association can inform public debate; (b) promoting and facilitating adoption by the Association of principled positions based on sound, comprehensive analysis of legal and policy issues;
(c) ensuring that positions adopted by the Association are clearly and accurately presented to government, other persons who should consider, act upon or be aware of them, and the public;
(d) promoting implementation of Association policy on substantive issues."
