VANCOUVER, B.C. – In celebration of Law Day, members of the public in the Comox Valley, the Cowichan Valley, Kamloops, Nanaimo, Vancouver, Vernon and Victoria are invited to attend public open houses at their local courthouses. Open house activities include mock trials, tours, information booths and question and answer sessions with legal experts. Most of the open houses are being organized by local bar associations and are sponsored by the Canadian Bar Association. Law Day celebrates the anniversary of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms.
The Canadian Bar Association will also hold the popular toll-free “Dial-A-Lawyer” program offering free legal advice, student mentor programs in Vancouver and Nanaimo, free law classes for the public, and writing and public speaking contests for youth.
