VANCOUVER–In celebration of Law Week, April 7-12, BC communities will host public speaking, short story and photo contests, open houses, mock trials and a toll free “Dial-A-Lawyer” program.
Members of the media are invited to promote and participate in two free public events on Saturday, April 12, 2003:
1. Public Open House, Vancouver Public Library: 1:00 - 4:00 pm Visit the Vancouver Public Library Main Branch on Saturday, April 12 to learn about the justice system. Guest speakers at 1:00 pm and displays by partners in the justice system will provide an inside look at how the justice system works. Displayers will include the Vancouver Police Dog Squad, RCMP Drug Awareness Service, BC Coroners Service, London Drugs Operation Family Identification, Law Courts Education Society, People’s Law School, Elizabeth Fry Society of Greater Vancouver, Legal Services Society and more!
2. Toll Free Telephone Access to Lawyers: 10:00 am - 2:00 pm Call 604.687.3221 or 604.687.4680. Outside the Lower Mainland call 1.800.663.1919 or 1.800.565.5297 for a 15 minute free legal consultation with CBA lawyer volunteers.
The Canadian Bar Association works with its partners in the justice system to bring together hundreds of schools, community groups, media outlets and legal organizations to celebrate the Law and its contribution to our society.
