FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE OCTOBER 31, 2001
OTTAWA - The Canadian Bar Association fears that the rights of innocent Canadians may be at risk unless the definition of terrorist activity in Bill C-36, the Anti-terrorist Act, is tightened. Addressing the House of Commons Committee on Justice and Human Rights on October 31, 2001, the CBA cautions that the definition must be drafted as precisely as possible. First Vice-President Simon Potter and Greg DelBigio of Vancouver made the presentation to the Commons Committee on Wednesday.
