 Law Week Ceremonies Bring Together Government, Judges, Lawyers & Public

APRIL 25, 2001

VANCOUVER–Canadian Bar Association BC Branch President Margaret Ostrowski QC today invited all members of the public and media to the Opening Ceremonies of the 2001 Law Week Open House, joining the CBABC, Law Society of BC, Vancouver Bar Association and Law Foundation of BC in celebrating 300 years of an independent justice system in the Western World.

This is an exciting year to learn more about Canada’s justice system,” said President Ostrowski. “On Saturday we will have more than 25 displays and information booths for people to explore, with special guests Justice Wally Oppal, MP Stephen Owen and Mayor Philip Owen.” Members of the media and public are invited to attend this free event:

Law Day Open House
Bring the whole family to the Library for an afternoon of displays and information about the Law and Justice System:

Saturday, April 28, 1-4 pm
Vancouver Public Library, Downtown (Robson and Homer)

  • Vancouver Police Dog Squad Show

  • Free London Drugs “Family Identification Kit” in case your child is lost

  • 23 other displays for all ages

Opening Ceremonies at 1pm with Justice Wally Oppal, MP Stephen Owen, and Mayor Philip Owen. Also, public and media are reminded that Saturday’s events include province-wide free telephone access to CBA lawyers.
