FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
AUGUST 8, 2000
Two new reports on legal aid in British Columbia highlight the "real life" impacts of inadequate funding for the legal aid system. The first is a report by the Law Society of BC (available at www.lawsociety.bc.ca).
The second, "Access to Justice Denied," was produced by Women's Access to Legal Services (WALS)
These reports confirm the CBABC's position that legal aid services in BC are underfunded, and that people who cannot afford legal services -- and in particular, women and children -- are not being adequately served by this government.
