 Dial-A-Law

Dial-A-Law is a library of scripts prepared by lawyers. It offers general information on a variety of topics on law in British Columbia, but not legal advice. If you need further information, you should consult a lawyer by calling the Lawyer Referral Service at 604.687.3221 or toll free in BC at 1.800.663.1919. Dial-A-Law is a free service that is available in English, Chinese and Punjabi by telephone and on the Internet. Dial-A-Law is funded by the Law Foundation of British Columbia and is operated by the BC Branch of the Canadian Bar Association (CBABC).

Dial-A-Law Celebrates 25 Years
In 1983, CBABC identified a need for public access to legal information on a variety of law topics. In collaboration with and funding from the Law Foundation of British Columbia, CBABC sponsored and initiated the Dial-A-Law program, which includes more than 125 scripts of legal information that are written and edited by volunteer lawyers in British Columbia.

In 2008, the Dial-A-Law program celebrates its 25th anniversary. The success of this program is because of the generous funding of the Law Foundation of British Columbia and the availability of Dial-A-Law scripts on the CBABC website and by telephone. We wish to thank the hundreds of lawyers who have generously volunteered their time to this program.

  • think you may have a legal problem and want practical information on the law involved,
