 Volunteer Registry
The CBABC Volunteer Registry gives lawyers in British Columbia the opportunity to volunteer at charitable organizations and agencies in need of legal expertise. Charitable organizations and agencies send the BC Branch information as to the kind of legal assistance they require. A request for legal assistance is compared to the Registry of volunteer lawyers and, if possible, a match is made. We then match the organization or agency with the appropriate lawyer. Further contact is left to the lawyer’s discretion. Please complete the registry form and return it to the BC Branch.

 Speaker's Bureau
Would your group benefit from information about the law? If your group consists of 15 people or more, the Speaker's Bureau will provide your group with a qualified volunteer speaker at no cost. You can request a free volunteer speaker from either the People’s law School or the Canadian Bar Association BC Branch.
Our speakers will: - come to your community centre, public library, school or other convenient meeting place;
- give your group a general presentation on a legal topic of your choice; and
- answer questions of a general nature.
Our speakers are experienced in the areas of law they address. To request a volunteer speaker in your community, please call us at the telephone numbers listed below.
In addition to free speakers on legal topics, the People’s Law School also provides free, plain language booklets on a variety of popular legal topics. The Canadian Bar Association BC Branch also offers its Dial-A-Law service which is a library of scripts prepared by lawyers on a variety of topics on law in BC. It is a free service available by telephone 604.687.4860 or 1.800.565.5297 and online at www.dialalaw.org.
