 Canadian Bar Association (BC) Benevolent Society

The purpose of the Canadian Bar Association (BC) Benevolent Society (the “Society”) is to provide assistance to lawyers and articled students who have suffered an illness or injury. The Society was incorporated under the Society Act of British Columbia on April 17, 1997.

The purposes of the Society are:

  1. to provide assistance to lawyers who have suffered an illness or injury arising from any cause whatsoever including but not limited to alcohol, drugs, stress and physical injury; and
  2. to provide assistance to the families of such lawyers and to other persons (including associates and employees) who are affected by such lawyers’ illness or injury.
