George Cadman, QC Receives Appreciation Award

George E H Cadman, QC a partner of Boughton, Peterson, Yang & Anderson received the Downtown Vancouver Business Improvement Association’s highest honour on September 22. The Appreciation Award was given to Mr. Cadman, as a reflection of his community involvement, “He spends a tremendous amount of time in the community,” said Mayor Philip Owen.

In accepting the Appreciation Award, Mr. Cadman recognized efforts of many volunteers, noting that we are all responsible for improving the downtown area. He also spoke about vision, “The vision that brought us Expo 86…. is one reflected in the downtown area and reflected in our city.” Mr. Cadman hopes that same vision will lead to a new, expanded convention centre. Special thanks were given to Mr. Cadman’s partners and to Bonnie, his wife of “26 years and counting.”

In addition to Mr. Cadman’s nine years of work for the Business Improvement Association, he is a past-president of the Vancouver Kiwanis, a past president of Vancouver Crimestoppers, a past chair of the Vancouver Crime Prevention Society, a past regional and national director of the Better Business Bureau and, within the Anglican Church of Canada, the Chancellor of the Diocese of New Westminster and the Ecclesiastical Province of BC. Past recipients of the Appreciation Award include Jack Shadbolt, Joseph Segal, Arthur Griffiths, Frank Musson, Grace McCarthy, Milton Wong, Vancouver Police Dept (for community policing) and the Downtown Vancouver Association (for helping found the DVBIA).
