President’s Forum

The June 19 President’s Forum on “Persuading the Public: How to Market Your Practice and Profession attracted more than 140 practitioners. Forum topics ranged from “Competing for Clients: Lessons from the Kelowna Project”, and “Creating Your Marketing Strategies and Teams”, to “Client Relations: The Naked Truth”. While covering diverse and compelling topics, the Forum also featured expert speakers from The Pace Group, Angus Reid, Rogers Cable Systems, the CBA, and the Law Society. Hamish Cameron of Bull, Housser & Tupper moderated the Forum.

The Forum featured practical instructions on implementing the advice of speakers. Participants received a step-by-step plan to take back to their practice. The implementation plan was key to the Forum, because research shows that while lawyers may take steps to learn new techniques for marketing, they are not always assimilated into practice. Participants can employ the tips learned, such as “10 tips for communicating with clients”, “Five tips for cost-effective marketing”, and “Maximizing community relationships, marketing within the community”.

Thanks to the Forum’s excellent speakers: Gerald Riskin; Daniel Savas; Norman Stowe; Roy Williams; Trudi Brown, QC; Carol Gibson; Brenda J. McCourt; Gerrie Waugh; Judith Fisher; R. Trevor Todd; Elizabeth Cordeau; and Caroline Nevin.

Thanks also to Branch Secretary/Treasurer Judith Milliken for her diligence and enthusiasm in spearheading this informative and worthwhile event.
