Pro Bono Update

Following a resolution passed at the AGM of the Law Society of BC, the CBA, BC Branch and the Law Society established a joint committee to look at the issue of how best to support pro bono initiatives throughout BC. The committee is currently working on developing a report and recommendations to be released within the next few months.

The Salvation Army and Pro Bono Program Coordinator Dugald Christie are continuing to develop and expand their pro bono clinic model outside of the Lower Mainland, and have now opened clinics in Surrey, Richmond, Nanaimo and Courtenay. Other communities are gearing up to open clinics later this year. The Program relies completely on donated hours by lawyers, funds allocated by the Salvation Army, and private donations. Your private donation would help this program survive and expand; if you are interested in contributing, please send a cheque made payable to The Salvation Army Pro Bono Program, c/o 3833 Henning Drive, Burnaby BC, V5C 6N5.
