This Section focuses on topics specific to practice in the area of famly law including the Family Law Act, an update on the revisions to the Alberta Rules of Court, an update on the Spousal Support Advisory Guidelines, child support issues, mediation and collaborative law as well as a variety of other current Family law issues. Monthly speakers, from within the family law bar, the bench and from associated disciplines, provide a wide variety of perspectives. The Family Law Section enjoys a long-standing relationship with the Court of Queen’s Bench of Alberta and the Provincial Court – Family Division. There is an annual Town Hall Meeting for both lawyers and their assistants at the Court of Queen’s Bench and an annual Town Hall Meeting at the Provincial Court – Family Division to assist those members who practice in that forum.
