About

WLF was launched in Alberta in 2007 as a platform to support the advancement of women in the legal profession by providing networking, mentoring, and resource sharing among junior and senior women practitioners. Given the high rate of attrition of women from the practice of law, our mandate is also to explore and develop ways to reverse the trend and to enhance the stature, influence and advancement of women in the law. Six events have been planned, with the possibility of additional events, including: The popular Ten Hot Tips from 5 Hot Mentors; Retention of Women in the Legal Profession; volunteer night with Soup Sisters; Women and Leadership – Leaders in the Law; Mentoring – An opportunity for senior and junior members to engage in roundtable discussions about the law and life; Transitioning – On the Move from Different Careers and Practices; To PC or not to PC – Tips on whether to start your own professional corporation and other tax-planning ideas; Women, Literature, and the Law; and The “Imposter Syndrome” – Do you have it?

Program suggestions and volunteers welcome.
