About

This section focuses on evolving areas of law unique to the aboriginal law bar as well as practice issues specific to serving aboriginal and government clients. This includes review of current developments in legislation unique to aboriginal people including federal law respecting First Nations people and Alberta's Metis Settlements legislation. We explore synergies with other practice areas including family law, civil litigation, corporate/commercial law, natural resources and environmental law. Through the speaker program, the Aboriginal Law Section seeks to present a range of perspectives and to provide an environment for debate and a dynamic exchange between lawyers in private practice, in-house counsel for aboriginal, federal and provincial governments, research lawyers, and students at law.
